Frequently Asked Questions

What is Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)?

Many patients only want little bit of help to take off the nervous edge that they experience while at the dentist. Nitrous oxide – or laughing gas – can help accomplish this goal while allowing you to remain fully responsive throughout your treatment. The best part about nitrous oxide is that the effects are short-lived, so you will not lose a whole day to the after effects. Most people can drive themselves home after a short in-office waiting period. Let us know if you are interested in learning more about nitrous oxide.

What is oral conscious sedation?

Some patients experience higher levels of dental anxiety, and oral conscious sedation can be an effective way to enable deeper levels of relaxation and comfort by taking a pill or drinking a prescription solution before treatment. Many patients become so relaxed that they barely notice they are having dental work done, and some even fall into a light sleep during the procedure. The effects of oral conscious sedation will, however, last beyond the treatment. Patients who elect to use oral conscious sedation will need to arrange for a driver to attend their appointment with them, and should plan on having an open schedule to relax at home after their treatment is completed.
